Sometimes we only find ourselves looking into God’s word only when we are having troubles. Although the Bible is the best source for comfort and guidance during hard times, that is not its only use.
If two people have a manual for an automobile, and one studies it daily, while the other only looks into it when he has a problem with the car, which one would you say is getting more out of the manual? The one who studies it daily will grow to understand the full operation of the car, so he will be better prepared for emergencies and also will understand how to get the best performance out of the car. The one who only consults the book for emergencies will only have enough knowledge to address the same issue if it occurs again.
Likewise, someone looks into the Bible regularly, for wisdom as well as dealing with troubles, will profit much more than the one who looks at it only to solve problems. God’s word can benefit us in so many ways if we take the time to look into it and study diligently.
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).
“And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32)
