Job’s Journey

In the book of Job, we read about a man who is faithful to God who loses everything and stays faithful. Because of his faith we see that in the end he is rewarded with more than what he had to begin with. But I believe that a powerful lesson is given to us way before we read the final words of the last chapter. In Job 1:20-22, we read:

20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

22 In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.

Job did not know what would happen with the rest of his life, but he understood the authority of God and how small he was in comparison. He humbled himself and worshiped God during his darkest days, knowing that he had no hope or direction in anyone or anything else. We, too, do not know what lies ahead of us, but we should have faith and trust in our Lord. There is no use in being angry with God or losing our faith in Him. Continue to trust in Him. God will deliver us if we are faithful.
