Have you ever watched a police show and seen the suspect refuse to speak and ask for an attorney? Usually, criminals aren’t interested in confessing and paying the price for their crimes. They want to continue to deceive and cover up what they have done until they have no course of action left. Even if they are found guilty, they usually want to immediately start working on their appeal. But is this how some people are living their lives? They just do what they want without regard to God and hope that there is some way to make things right in the end. But once our lives are over here there will be no appeals.
Hebrews 9:27 reads:
27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
And so once we die, we will answer to God for how we lived our lives. The good news comes in verse 28:
28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
God, Himself, has appointed an attorney who will act on our behalf and He is a representative Who will never lose a case. But will we reject His help and try to represent ourselves? There is a saying that anyone who represents themselves in court has a fool for a client. We have no hope of heaven unless Jesus Christ acts as our advocate. Why not become His client today?
